God is good

I was not in a good place a little over a week ago. I had been struggling with hearing God speak to me and being really homesick. But at my lowest, God spoke.

First it was through my Dad. At 4 in the morning on Saturday, my dad sent me Galations 6:9, “So let us not grow weary of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reaps harvest of blessings if we do not give up.”. I was like “Thanks dad, I’m going back to sleep now”. I didn’t think much of it.

Then my boyfriend sent me the same exact verse that night, not knowing that my dad had already. This time it caught my attention but I wasn’t sold.

I was debating going to church on Sunday or sleeping/crying but I knew that going to church would help me a lot. The pastor always opens up the service with a verse… Well what do you know, Galations 6:9.

My jaw dropped. I knew instantly that this was God and he was telling me not to give up. He used three people to get me to go to YWAM and now he used three people to tell me to stay.

(Side note, I was talking with another person about how God speaks to me in 3’s and they said they like to think of it as The Father, The Son, and The Holy Ghost. Super cool!)

Sunday night I decided to be more intentional with my quiet times with God. I opened up in prayer simply saying, “God lead this time…please”. I flipped open my bible and God told me to read that page. Psalms 84:5-7 was the verses that caught my eye. They read, “What joy for those whose strength comes from the Lord, who have set their minds on the pilgrimage of Jerusalem. When they walk through the valley of weeping, it will become a place refreshing springs. The autumn rains will clothe it with blessings. They will continue to grow stronger and each will appear before God in Jerusalem.” Now what I got out of that was that God is my strength and my joy. When I become homesick, it will be times that I will be renewed in Him. He has blessings in store for me here at YWAM.

So this whole week I would still wake up homesick but after doing quiet times with God in the mornings, his peace and joy has taken over my days. I learned that I can’t just have a weekly dose of God to get through the homesickness, I need a daily dose of God!

Not only has He given me joy, he’s also restored the friendships I have at home; I can’t get over how much God has done in just one week.

God is good.
