Ready or Not

Ready or Not

I haven't posted much or even at all about my next mission trip to Mexico, which is this Saturday for a week. I was sort of pushing it to the back of my mind but now that it is less than 48 hours away, I'm kind of freaking out. It will be more like how my YWAM Outreach was and I guess that alone makes me a little nervous.

It has been almost 1 year since I have been in Mexico. I can honestly say that Mexico and its people have stolen my heart. I have seen the worst of Mexico and still in love with its culture.

This next mission trip is only for a week and is in different part of Mexico than where I spent my 5 months. This part of Mexico, Merida, I have been before. This will be my 3rd time going with my church. The last trips were more like vacations than they were missional. We would build the church (yes build, like cement and bricks) during the morning to midday, then be bussed back to our hotel in the heart of Downtown, where we were shower, lounge by the pool, and relax.

But this time will be different. This time will be more God-centered.

We will be staying on the church grounds, hammocks and all. Showering is a maybe! We will still build the church in the morning, but in the evening we will be gathering the church members up, evangelizing in the streets, passing out bibles, praying for strangers, and joining cultures and languages to worship God.

My time in YWAM is the reason for the change in this Church Trip to Merida, Mexico.

So I am nervous because of my expectations. I have this thought in my head about how it should be; how it was with my YWAM team. But in my heart I know that that is not how it's going to be. I'm not saying it is not going to be good, I'm just saying it's going to be different. God will be present regardless.

The church in Merida mentioned that this was the first time that IRPC has done a trip like this with them! Our church is known for staying at the hotel and not at the church. I'm overfilled with joy that this year we are changing the norm.

My prayer is that this changes the hearts of everyone going to Mexico this year from IRPC. That the change that it makes, comes back to our church and changes the church. However that looks like. This trip is only 1 week long, but I have seen God do some crazy things within hours. I pray that this next week the Holy Spirit is moving; that no one comes back to the States having not seen or been touched by the power of Jesus. I also pray that within this week, Mexico steals a part of everyone's heart.
